A glance behind the curtains of Padington.
HOW WE STARTED.
In 1966, Richard and Audrey Padington had a vision to create a place where people could go to relax, escape and connect with nature. They started with a small plant nursery in the village of Woburn Sands, Bedfordshire and called it Padington’s.
The business quickly grew and in 1970, they moved to a larger site in Padington. Here they developed the garden centre, which became a mecca for keen gardeners and those who simply wanted to enjoy some time surrounded by plants and flowers.
Padington’s soon became known for its excellent customer service and friendly staff. It was also a place where you could find unusual plants and rarer species, as well as the more traditional garden favourites.
In 1998, the Padingtons decided to retire. They sold the garden centre to the current owners, who have continued to develop and expand the business, while still retaining the original Padington’s ethos of providing a great customer experience and being a haven for plant-lovers.
